Golden West Hotel

The Golden West Hotel (also known as the Workingman's Hotel) was built by San Diego entrepreneur and civic leader John D. Spreckels, using the architectural firm of Harrison Albright, in particular John L. Wright, a son of Frank Lloyd Wright. Designed in 1913, it was built in the Gaslamp Quarter of San Diego with sculptures by Alfonso Iannelli at the corner. The hotel was designated a historical landmark by the San Diego Historical Resources Board in 1974. In 2007 the original telephone switchboard was still in the lobby. The publisher's sequential number on the back is 9243.
