Hotel Barstow at the corner of Fifth Avenue and A Streets, San Diego
Neuner Printing & Lithograph Co., Los Angeles, California, US
This picture postcard photograph of the Hotel Barstow in San Diego has an advertisement on the back placing it on the northeast corner of Fourth Avenue and A Streets, with "new building and furnishings." The same H. B. Frisbie listed as manager officiated in a ceremony in Balboa Park in 1917, still with the manager's title. The Neuner Printing & Lithograph Co. originated in 1901 and lasted until 1938. In 1907 the first "divided back" postcards were issued with the change in postal regulations allowing the placement of messages on the back of the picture, instead of just the address. This photograph looks exactly the same as in PC-000-820, except that the latter is apparently hand tinted, and there are flowers on the terrace, people on the sidewalk, and early automobiles in the streets.
