Picture postcard of the interior of the Palace Cafe in San Diego, California
Palace Cafe, San Diego, California, US
This picture postcard features a hand-colored photograph of the interior of the Palace Cafe in San Diego, California. On the back the earlier proprietors' names (Jos. E. McFadden and G. W. S. Bay) were obliterated by a stamp with the new owner's name, Nicholas F. Sargent. The reverse also states that the Palace Cafe is "The Handsomest, high class cafe in the west." Newman postcards were made from 1907 to the 1960s. Aside from the style of the room and the card, the postage stiplated on the back (one cent) places its production before 1952, when penny postcards became obsolete. This card is the same as PC-000-533, except that this one is in color.
