This is a Christmas postcard with an image of the Lily Pond in Balboa Park, looking away from the Botanical Building toward the Better Housing Building on the left and theAmerican Legion Building on the right. The Lily Pond was also known as the "Lagoon," Laguna de Las Flores, and Laguna de Espejo (Reflecting Pool), and was built for the Panama-California International Exposition of 1915-1916, as was the Better Housing Building, then known as the Commerce and Industries Building. This building was also known as the Canadian Building, Electric Building, Museum of Natural History, Aerospace Museum and the International Aerospace Hall of Fame, before it burned down in 1978, rebuilt as the Casa de Balboa (1980). The American Legion Building was also known as the Home Economy Building, the Pan-Pacific Building and the Cafe of the World, and it was demolished in 1963 to make way for the Timken Museum of Art.
