The Indian Village or Painted Desert exhibit was constructed for the Panama - California Exposition of 1915 in San Diego's Balboa Park. During the Exposition, American Indians from New Mexico lived in the exhibit area and exchanged crafts for groceries and cash. This particular postcard shows the Taos Pueblo building, one among several building groups for different tribes. The exhibit was sponsored by the Santa Fe Railroad and was reopened for the California Pacific International Expositoin of 1935.
