Palace of Better Housing and House of Hospitality from Lagoon, America's Exposition at San Diego, California, 1933

The "palace" on the left was built for the Panama-California International Exposition of 1915 as the Commerce and Industries Building, later the Canadian Building, Electric Building, and eventually reconstructed as the Casa de Balboa. On the right, the Home Economy Building, also known as the Pan-Pacific Building, Cafe of the World, and American Legion Building, was demolished in 1963 to make way for the Timken Museum. Also constructed for the 1915 Exposition--but shown here as advertising for the California Pacific International Exposition of 1935--was the Reflecting Pool (Laguna de Espejo) known later as the Lily Pond (also the Lagoon or Laguna de las Flores). Both expositions were held in Balboa Park (formerly City Park). The publisher's number 4402 is in the upper left white border. The Teich number in the bottom right border is 3A-H1381, from which the date was derived. This is a linen card produced as part of series for the 1935 exposition.
