[Curt Teich & Co., Inc., Chicago, Illinois]
A steamship ferry at the Steamer Pier in the middle of Avalon Bay. Just below it to the south, looking as if it is jutting out from the mansion with the green room at bottom left, is the Green Pleasure Pier. The mansion is actually on top of Mt. Ada and was a residence of William Wrigley, Jr., owner of Catalina Island, afterward a bed-and-breakfast, the Mt. Ada Inn. The Sugar Loaf Casino lies between the mainland and Sugar Loaf Rock on the northwest edge of the Bay. Although unacknowledged, Curt Teich's number on the divided back of the card is 95573, which, according to the guide maintained by the Curt Teich Postcard Archives, translates to 1923. The publisher's number on the back is C.I.-21.
