This hand-tinted picture postcard shows the original building and expansion constructed for the San Diego Normal School from 1898-1910 (original portion centered here dedicated 1899). This building, designed by Irving Gill (1870-1936), continued to be used as the school changed its name to the State Teachers' College, until the Montezuma Mesa location was occupied in 1931. The publisher's number on the undivided back of this untraveled postcard is 3541, made in Germany. The photograph on this card is the same as the one used on PC-000-977.
