The San Diego Hotel, San Diego, California, US
The San Diego Hotel, shown here on a picture postcard, was designed by Harrison Albright (1866-1932) for John D. Spreckels (1853-1926), San Diego entrepreneur and civic leader. Built in 1914 in time for the Panama-California Exposition of 1915, it closed in 2001 and was demolished in 2006 desite its listing in 1983 as San Diego Historical Site Number 175. Like many old hotels in San Diego, in its latter years it provided low-income housing. This card appears to be the same as PC-000-910, -911, and -913, but with a smaller image and more advertising on the front of the card. The back of the card bears the same advertising message and the same seal of the Panama-California Exposition of 1915, lookng exactly the same as other cards in this collection.
