The front cover of this Black Manuscript has considerable collage work in the fabric arts as well as embroidery, quilting and drawing on cloth, and incorporated wooden and other beads and shiny bits. The table of contents gives titles, page numbers, and dates completed for the hand-drawn and lettered stories within. On page 114 Barr notes that she is "writing little stories for my own pleasure."
