Interviewer: Fawver, Bill
McClellan was a member of the Vista City Council at the time of her interview. She and her husband were members of the Church of Latter Day Saints, raised in Salt Lake City. They had one child, came to Vista 23 years before. She "became involved civically" in the community and saw things she could do to make things better. She became involved in public service and philanthropic work, including with children with intellectual disabilities. She likes working on the city council and intends to continue in politics, hoping that the supervisorial seat will open up. She thinks that what is necessary is a desire to "get in and dig out the facts." As a woman, she feels she has to work "100 times" harder than her male colleagues. This interview took place in her home in Vista, California. It was conducted for the Department of History at California State University, San Diego and digitized by the California Audiovisual Preservation Project (CAVPP).
