Interview with Marilyn Lassman
Lassman was the first woman elected to the Southwestern Community College Governing Board, in 1969. She was also president of the California Community College Board of Governors, co-founder of the South County Economic Development Council, and at the time of the interview a member of the Sweetwater Junior College District Board. At this time she was married with two daughters, 13 and 11. She grew up in St. Louis, Missouri and experienced segregated schools. She moved West and attended San Diego State. She maintained an active career in real estate marking and community development. She lent her expertise in advertising to her husband's business, Lassman Motors.


Mrs. Lassman died in 2007. This interview was conducted for the "Oral History Research Project" at San Diego State University. It took place at her place of employment, Lassman Motors, in Chula Vista, California.
