Guyer was at this time a member of the Governing Board of the Oceanside Unified School District. The interview took place as part of an oral history project about women in politics at California State University, San Diego. She attended public schools in San Francisco, UCB, Dental School at University of California San Francisco. She was married in 1949 and moved to Los Angeles, and had three children; her husband was then employed in Oceanside. As to civic service, she has belonged to Friends of the Library, American Field Service, Parent Teacher Association, and others. Guyer (her married name) has taught Sunday School and is involved with her church, with American Association of University of Women.
