Porter, Merle
Highway One is also known as Pacific Coast Highway, California State Route 1. It passes through Morro Bay on its way north and south along the Pacific Ocean coastline. Shops line the left side of the street, including the Morro Bay Variety store. The description on the back is by Merle Porter, the photographer of this scene: "Morro Bay is not only known for its fine bay for those who like the water but also as an art center. Each year hundreds of painters come to Morro Bay and show their pictures. Here one may look over their work and buy works of art to hang in your home. Along the streets are found little shops and stores that delight the eyes of those who pass through. While the town is modern it has not spoiled it for those who like the past. Its warm winters and cool summers make Morro a place where one just likes to relax." The numbers B-411 and S14101 are on the bottom of the divided back.
