Home of the trout, Wheelers Hot Springs, California
Melville Gravure Process, Los Angeles, California
A rough bridge crosses a creek as it encounters a rocky section. Near the middle of the image is a sign reading "Genoveva cold mineral water." A short description on the back advertises the "Wheeler's Hot Mineral Springs, Ventury Co[unty], Cal[ifornia], Natural Hot Mineral Water Tub and Plunge Baths." The springs were named for Wheeler C. Blumberg, who discovered hot springs near the north fork of Matilija Creek in 1888. The publisher was only in business from 1908 to 1921.
