Stone ditch, built by the Indians over 130 years ago, Ventura, California
This warm black-and-white card shows a horse in traces in the foreground. On the right is a man in a suit leaning against a bulwark of a stone wall in the middle ground, the like of another piece of wall on the left. The stonework represents what remained of an aqueduct starting near Oakview built for the San Buenaventura Mission. This portion was off Highway 33 and Cañada Larga Road. This card was "Published for John R. Brakey, Ventura, California," according to a printed message at the bottom of the address panel on the divided back. The original was published by E. H. Mitchell.
