Palisades Park, Santa Monica, California
A tree shaped by the wind is on the left in front of a driftwood fence, with flowers at its base. On the right a walkway leads away from the viewer, with trees on either side and mountains in the distance. Palisades Park, originally called Linda Vista Park, was the first park in Santa Monica, the land donated to the city by founder Senator John P. Jones, Arcadia Bandini De Baker, and Santa Monica Land and Water Company. It was designed in 1913 by I. E. LeGrande to include picnic areas, gates, a rose garden and scenic overlooks. The western end of Route 66 was in Palisades Park. The publisher's number 775 is at the bottom of the palm tree acting as a dividing line on the back. Van Ornum made postcards from 1908-1921.
