There are no canyons within the city limits of Santa Monica, but there are other canyons north and west along the Pacific coastline where there are palisades. This can be compared with a postcard by M. Kashower titled "Beach Road and Entrance to Topanga Canyon, near Santa Monica, Calif." that shows a road inclined in the same direction as this one with canyon shrubbery on the same side. On the divided back is the railroad-promotion motto "On the Road of a Thousand Wonders."
