Residence Albert Smiley, Redlands, California Winter
Steps on the right go up through a portal to a house with a porch on the second floor. Blooming flowers reach above the porch, and trees and shrubs surround the drive past the house. Twin brothers Alfred H. and Albert K. Smiley were philanthropists who made their homes in Redlands on a ridge named Smiley Heights after them, but that they called Cañon Crest because it overlooked the San Timoteo Canyon. Albert Smiley donated the land for and furnished the A. K. Smiley Public Library in Redlands. This appears to be a color version of a black-and-white photograph attributed to the publisher from around 1900. The publisher's number 4189 is on the divided back along with the phrase "Made in Germany." The publisher was only in business until 1915, limiting the publication of this card to 1907-1915, given the divided back.
