Split Rocks is an area with a number of fissured rocks. The publisher's number is beneath its logo on the right, F-6936. This is a Real Photo Post Card, a silver-process photograph developed using a developing-out paper, in this case EKC. Exactly the same description occurs on another 1947 card with a different image, number F-6935. Joshua Tree National Monument has been renamed Joshua Tree National Park.

In the history of the monument, two activities are predominate[sic], gold mining, and cattle running. The Cattle men left their mark in the way of tanks, (small dams to retain rain water in gullies to water their stock).

Split Rock Tank is popular as a picnic or camp ground, with its picturesque rock surroundings.
