Typical winter scene at Camp Baldy, California
Burton Frasher, Senior
Photographic paper: Dops
A small cabin stands out in deep snow, with a steep roof covered with snow, as are the surrounding trees. This is a Real Photo Post Card, with a nearly invisible title. Titles like this were scratched into the developing print by hand, coming out white like the background that makes a border. In this case, the white snow nearly obscures the words altogether. Camp Baldy eventually was renamed Mount Baldy, a community in the San Gabriel Mountains northeast of Los Angeles named after the nickname for Mount San Antonio. The photographic paper on which this card was developed was manufactured from 1925-1942.
