D Street runs north and south from Rialto Avenue. This view is from a photograph dated 1895. On the left is the county courthouse (1874), on the right a sign advertises Santa Ana Clothing. This courthouse was damaged in the 1923 earthquake, and a new courthouse built in 1927. The turret on the right belonged to the Southern Hotel on the southeast corner of Fourth and D Streets. On the back left margin after the publisher's information is a statement that "In space below may be written sender's name and address (no other writing and communications after March 1st 1907.)" Actually, on that date postal regulations changed to allow messages to be written in this left panel. The publisher's logo appears just above the dividing line on the back, with their number 4316 in the message space on the right on this side.
