Battleships at Santa Barbara, California
According to a printed statement on the back, "The smooth waters of the Santa Barbara Channel, protected by the four Channel Islands, make Santa Barbara a favorite stopping place for the battle-ships. On the road of a thousand wonders." In the foreground is a balcony with a large vase and a railing. Beyond a fence with trees and shrubs is the Pacific Ocean with about a dozen ships at varying distances from the shore. "On the road of a thousand wonders" at the end of the statement refers to a railroad promotion. The divided back carries the publisher's number 5287 and the phrase "Made in Germany." The card must date from between 1907 (divided back) and 1915, when the publisher ceased operations.
