A few sentences on the back describe the scene and promote a railway trip: "The Cliff Drive is one of the most picturesque in the world. It shows a bewildering medley of beautiful homes, tropical trees, canyons, ocean, palisades and ranch. On the road of a thousand wonders." The last phrase was used by Southern Pacific and/or Union Pacific to advertise their routes. In the picture, wild flowers grow on both sides of a dirt road that is rounding a curve at a cut cliff face. The publisher's number 5285 is next to the dividing line on the back, along with the phrase "Made in Germany." Another number is upside down in the stampbox: 886.
