The flowering, climbing shrub (misspelled on this card) is on the face of a pavilion in the courtyard of the hotel. The Potter, as it was known, opened in 1903 as a year-round hotel, rather than seasonal. It was sold in 1919, becoming the Belvedere, then sold once again to become the Ambassador. In 1921 the hotel burned to the ground and was not rebuilt. The Ambassador Park on West Cabrillo Boulevard stands where the entrance once was. The publisher's number 13131 precedes the title in the lower left corner of this white-border card. The border is stained in some areas.
