Original navel orange tree planted in Riverside in 1873
The tree enshrined here was also called the "Parent Washington Navel Orange Tree" on the plaque marking it as Historical Landmark Number 20 in the State of California. This deeply sepia-tone card also shows pedestrians in an old-town area walking on the right toward a mission-style building. This tree was in a courtyard of the Mission Inn, where it died in 1921, limiting the production date of this card to 1908-1921.
