The viewer sees the Colorado Street Bridge from the floor of the Arroyo Seco, surrounded by orange trees. The Bridge, built in 1913, spans the seasonally wet ravine Arroyo Seco that runs from the San Gabriel Mountains to the Los Angeles River. Until the Ventura Freeway was built beside it in the mid-20th century, it was the only way to drive west out of Pasadena, and it became part of Route 66. The publisher's number is below the dividing line enclosing its name on the divided back, 613.
