Swallowing whole oranges, Cawston Ostrich Farm, Southern California
Although Cawston's Ostrich Farm raised birds to sell their feathers, they also had a tourist business partially promoted through streetcar lines that ran to the farm. Ostriches pulled carts and carriages, and there were tours, clothing, and souvenirs for sale. A Newman Post Card Company has exactly the same image with the title used here printed in the blue space between trees, postmarked 1911. On the back the VanOrnum logo comprises the dividing line. This publisher was in business from 1908 to 1921.
