Although Cawston's Ostrich Farm raised birds to sell their feathers, they also had a tourist business partially promoted through streetcar lines that ran to the farm. Ostriches there were typically named for famous people, in this case Edward VII, King of the United Kingdom from 1901-1910. A man stands behind the ostrich in its paddock, near its neck on the left.
