"Jew fish" is an old name for a type of sea bass or grouper. William Schilling (right) and his son (left) stand beside the fish. Schilling had a general store in Long Beach. They are standing on a curb with a crowd and a shed behind them. The fish was caught from the 1885 pleasure pier that was washed away in 1900. Although not credited, the Curt Teich organization is represented by the number A3655 at the bottom of the dividing line on the back.
