The back of the card has a short paragraph about the location of the "skimming gate" shown in this picture, "5 miles west of Yuma," "fed by gravity to distribution works near Calexico." This description may refer to the Potholes, California, intake at Laguna Dam, where there is an "overflow skimming structure, according to a 1928 US Department of Agriculture Technical Bulletin. The number 105139 in the right bottom margin indicates the year of publication.
