The card shows a broad, unpaved street with horse drawn carriages. The title on the lower right describes this scene as Main Street in El Centro, California, "on the S. P. Ry.," meaning the Southern Pacific Railroad. The Southern Pacific track in El Centro became the Union Pacific's. The publisher's number 21531, publisher's name and location, and the notice "Made in Germany" are on the right edge of the divided back of this postcard.
