Messrs Johnson Brothers,
Otay, Calif.,

Gentlemen:-
I have had to order our steward to go into the market and buy milk at whatever price is necessary to get it, and to hold you responsible for any loss over contract price.

I have written to Las Flores and asked if they could furnish us milk.

Our house is rapidly filling, and as soon as you can give us what we need we will stop purchasing in the market.

Yours truly,
E. S. Babcock.

C. H. Poole, Esq.,
Hawaiin Hotel,
Honululu,

Dear Sir:-
I have just received your favor of the 5th inst. I find however that we cannot use the evidence you mention, in the coming libel suit, as it would be foreign to the issues.
Am glad to know that Mrs Poole has acknowledged the falsity of her charges. She certainly did write the statement. She gave it to me and told me she made it. I do not know just when the suits will come off.

Things are very dull here, more than before, owing to the failure of the Calif. Nat'l Bank.

Yours truly,
E. S. Babcock.
