the same as we have done with Armour & Co. The bank, in spite of your message of yesterday, protested the draft late last night. We shall either remit to you direct, or pay to the R. R. Co., the amount of your claim, less the oysters short, as the railroad people seem to think they have delivered the car to us without proper authority.

Messrs J.D Spreckels & Brothers,
San Francisco, Calif.,

Gentlemen:-
We have sent you today a mortgage for $500,00.00, covering all of the property of the Beach Company.

Mr Lamme, Mr Collett's attorney, has written me regarding Mr Collett's name being removed from the notes of the Coronado R.R. Co., which were discounted with the Central Trust Co., of New York, several years ago. Will you kindly investigate, and, if Mr Collett's name is still on the notes, consent to have his signature erased, and write me, so that I can advise Mr Lamme.

Yours truly,
E. S. Babcock.
