F. G. Barry, Esq.,

Dear Sir:-
Have just had to wire Mrs Waystaff that rooms 386 and 387 are taken for the Winter. A Mrs Barnett, of Salt Lake City, Utah, who has occupied these rooms for several months, proposes to remain all Winter. Hope you can persuade Mrs Waystaff to come here, and let us settle her after she arrives. We will make as many changes as she may wish, until she finds a suitable location.

Have your favor regarding cider. Anticipate a good deal of pleasure from the cider.

Have received the printed postal card. Think the idea is excellent. Shall use it in advertising for the Summer California business.

Yours of the 19th inst. Glad you are sending some cheese. When it comes will let you know about taking more. Expect considerable enjoyment from the sugar and hickorynuts, particularly the nuts, as they are extra good before the first of the year.

Yours of the 29th ult. The requests have been attended to promptly in my absence.

Yours of the 27th ult. Mr. Rockwood is attending to the list of firms with whom we have done business.

Think we shall have a good season the coming winter. Hope so, because we have had a pretty tough pull through the Summer.

As soon as you can estimate the expense you will be at between now and Jan. 1st, send me statement showing total that has been spent under your management, so I can see what we will do next year.

We will try the maple syrup in the lump on pancakes. Shall reserve part for you and Mrs Berry, so you will feel natural [when] you get here. Have not said anything about butter, because do not want to crowd too much on Mr Byrne in the way of deadheading. Will talk with Dr Morton regarding the letter. Mallett tells me he talked with Morton about it, and that the Doctor said he would give us his decision. I suspect the Doctor is afraid he [will] do something unprofessional. He is from N.Y., and of a prominent family. His father was the discoverer of the use of ether as an anesthetic.

I can send Byrne 1000 of our pamphlets, and will do so. Do not believe he would be satisfied with the reprints.

Your work of advertising is the most thorough I have ever
