Messrs J. Schweitzer & Co.,
San Francisco, Calif,.

Gentlemen: - Your letter of the 26th inst., is at hand.

The insinuations contained therein are entirely unwarranted. Some of the statements are absolutely false.

You say that on Sept. 16th, the day the meat was shipped, you mailed invoice of meat. We have the invoice referred to. At the top of the page it is dated Sept. 19th, and it was not mailed from San Francisco until the 19th or 20th inst. Immediately on receipt of the meat I personally examine it, and measured it, and know from personal inspection that the meat you sent us was not in accordance with the specifications Mr. Zander sent you. I wrote you in detail yesterday regarding the loss we have sustained.

I heartily agree with you, that the opening of negotiations with you was a mistake, in view of the character of the statement made by you, based on so little truth.

Yours truly,
E. S. Babcock.
