-red to two hundred and fifty people to serve at the banquet, and we cannot accommodate them, unless we receive the full retail price for wines served. We do not want a banquet which we cannot serve with credit to the house, and there is no profit to us in serving one at this time of the year on the terms which we think necessary to save us from absolute loss.

Do not understand by my position as above outlined, that we do not want the banquet. We shall be very glad indeed to have it, if it can be given on terms not too onerous to ourselves. If, in the judgment of your committee, however, it is believed more favorable arrangements may be made elsewhere, do not hesitate to accept them. There will be no feeling whatever on my part, as I am actuated solely by a desire to make the celebration thoroughly successful.

Yours truly,
E. S. Babcock

To: Gen. E. H. L. Murray,
Chairman Executive Committee Cabrillo Celebration.
