Gen. M. C. Wentworth,
Manager, The Raymond,
Pasadena, Calif.,

My dear General:-
I was impressed with the quality and style of your pastry, so much in fact that I have a curiosity to know--if you are willing to tell me--how many pastry cooks you have, and what salaries you pay them.
I thought we had a pretty good pastry cook, but believe yours is better; and I am always on the lookout for an improvement--tho' by this I do not mean, of course, that I covet your cook, but I want to get a better standard, if it is to be had.

Yours truly,
E. S. Babcock Jr.
Manager
