Mr Bettens says that Miss Kelly is quick and accurate in figures. Will you please see if she will, during Miss Ingle's absence East, take charge of the store room books and keep them. If so, have her come up, and get well started in them as soon as convenient. Arrange the rest of the girls in the ferry offices so as to do without Miss Kelly's services, letting the pursers do the collecting at night. This will be test as to whether we can do without the ferry girls at night.

The books of the store room as kept by Mr Newlin and Miss Ingle are out of balance considerable. This runs back through Crichton and Wilds time. Wish you would have an expert come up and take Newlins books, compare them with Miss Ingle's, and let me know where the deficit is.
