The end papers of this San Diego State College annual show a sunset behind a brightly lit Hardy Tower standing out on campus, with San Diego and San Diego Bay in between. On page 35, another aerial view of campus is juxtaposed with a photograph of Hardy Tower with the word "Awaken" painted on it. The Aztec Center opened on September 16, 1968. Lack of classroom space led to the "crashing" of classes (students attending despite being unable to register), and holding classes outdoors. Ansel Adams, the Paul Butterield Blues Band, Taj Mahal, and Jesse Unruh were hosted on campus, and members of the American Federation of Teachers supported the San Francisco State College strike with information pickets.
