Interviewer: Collins, Bruce
Lucia Smalheer, President of the League of Women's voters, is interviewed in her home in San Diego. Conducted by the Oral History Research Department at San Diego State College. Mrs. Smallheer grew up in Texas, born to a former teacher. She earned a Bachelor's degree in social science, later married a teacher (Douglas A. Smalheer) at Mesa College. She worked in the United States Immigration Service. She states that women were not career oriented at that time.
