Interview with Kay Montgomery
Interviewer: Collins, Bruce
Montgomery was a member of the Fair Employment Practices Commission. Starting at age 18, she worked in Washington, District of Columbia until she was married and moved to San Diego. She became politically active after her divorce, organizing for the League for Women Voters. She saw an almost complete absence of African-American delegates at the 1956 Republican convention while working for field operations. This interview was conducted by the "Oral History Department at San Diego State University" at Montgomery's home in San Diego, California. Sound quality is very poor.
