Clouds hide the moon but the light still cuts a swath on the water through the middle of the image. The publisher's number 280 is in the right lower corner of this sepia-tone card. The rose-and-dagger dividing line typical of Edward Mitchell is on the back of the card with the publisher's name on the inside. Mitchell bought the company in 1911. Also on the back is the railroad-promotion motto "on the road of a thousand wonders."
