The Smiley Library, Redlands, California
The A. K. Smiley Public Library, established 1894, has been at this location since 1898. Clearly seen here is one of the the rose windows, the Dutch gabling, tower with its dome, and front colonnade. The style of the library designed by T. R. Griffith is described on the Library's site as Moorish. Albert K. Smiley, one of twin-brother philanthropists, bought the land for and furnished the library that was named after him. This card has a serrated edge on the left, as if it had been part of a booklet. The publisher's number H 34 is on the back next to the phrase "On the Road of a thousand wonders," a railroad promotion motto.
