Mountain stream and cabins, Curry's Camp Baldy, Camp Baldy, California
Frasher, Burton, Senior
Photographic paper: Dops
This is a Real Photo Post Card taken at Curry's Camp Baldy, also known as "The Yosemite of the South," in San Antonio Canyon. The resort lasted from 1928 to 1948 under this name. Several photographic postcards were made by Frasher of this area, including this one of San Antonio Creek. When the creek became a raging flood in 1938, it wiped out most of the lodge. After purchase from the Curry family the property eventually became Buckhorn Lodge and Restaurant. Dops photographic paper was used to make this card, manufactured from 1925-1942. The same photograph was sold as "Winter Time at Camp Baldy, California." The community of Camp Baldy eventually became Mount Baldy.
