On the back is a description: "An interesting and beautiful sight, when the poppies are in bloom. Acres and acres will be a mass of this golden yellow. The Poppy is the State Flower of California, and is a different variety from that which they get opium." People are seen among fields of poppies, with trees and snow-capped mountains in the distance, including Mount San Antonio, the one called "Mt. Baldy," in the San Gabriel Mountains north of Los Angeles. The Teich number at the top of the dividing line on the back is A-61385, from which the date was derived.
