From the southwest, one sees the western wing of the hotel, its smokestack, a cupola, turrets, entrance, landscaping and the 390 guest rooms in 6-1/2 stories in front of the Santa Ynez Mountains. Named after its owner Milo Potter, the hotel opened in 1903 and was destroyed by fire in 1921 under different ownership as the Ambassador Hotel. The entrance was at the site of Ambassador Park. A rubber-stamped message in red ink on the back declares that the card was "Made in Germany." The publisher's name and number 3588 appear on the back, which is divided but only for the sender's return address on the left.
