Castle Rock is in the distance as the ocean spray nearly obscures it and Castle Point. These landmarks were destroyed when the new Santa Barbara Harbor was constructed. The white space on the bottom and side was left for messages like the one written here, since the undivided back was reserved at this time for an address and postal markings. The publisher's information is enclosed within a decorative frame in the lower left corner, and their number 7065 is within a frame above it in the bottom left of the black-and-white picture. The title, likewise, enclosed in quotation marks, is centered in a frame at the bottom of the image.

Your very welcome letter with the good news received this A. M--will answer when I get a moment from sight-seeing. Had a little glimpse of your girlee this morning--and hope to get down to see her. We are all delighted with this charming place--and wish we had a longer time to spend here--but must be going on, as we sail for Honolulu on the 14th "inst." C. E. M.
