The image depicted on this color card shows a small community bounded by hills and mountains on three sides, with a wharf on the right, broad streets leading straight back from the harbor (appearing north but actually northwest), and ships in what would later be a built-up harbor. The Santa Ynez Mountains are prominent in the background on the north. The publisher's number on the back is 3625, and it is rubber-stamped "Made in Germany." The year is purported to be 1873, but the postcard has a back divided for a return address only, meaning it was made in the years around 1907.
