This is a Real Photo Post Card (RPPC) photograph of the Colorado Street Bridge from a viewpoint in the bottom of the Arroyo Seco ravine. Constructed in 1913, the bridge was the only street going west out of Pasadena until the Ventura Freeway was built in the mid-20th century. The old road, which took the traveler steeply down into the ravine may be the structure nearer the viewer. The Real Photo process allowed the photographer to develop directly onto postcard backing and produced a silver-process glossy print.
